Product Details

Northern Lights, also commonly referred to as NL, is a legendary indica-dominant marijuana strain widely celebrated for its resinous buds, fast flowering time, and deeply tranquilizing physical effects. Originally bred in the Pacific Northwest during the late 1970s and later globalized in the Netherlands, it has become one of the most famous and influential cultivars in cannabis history, serving as a genetic backbone for iconic hybrids like Jack Herer and Super Silver Haze.

Reported Effects & Medical Uses

Northern Lights is heavily favored as an evening or nighttime strain due to its profoundly sedating and physical nature.

• The High: It begins with a gentle wave of euphoria that eases the mind and slows down racing thoughts. This quickly settles into a heavy, full-body physical relaxation—often described as feeling like a warm blanket—that encourages stillness and rest.

• Medical Context: Patients frequently turn to the Northern Lights strain profile on Leafly to help manage symptoms related to chronic pain, insomnia, muscle spasms, anxiety, stress, and appetite loss.

• Side Effects: The most common adverse effects are cottonmouth (dry mouth) and red, dry eyes. Because of its high potency and strong sedating properties, newer consumers are advised to start with a low dose to avoid excessive couch-lock.
